Entry Level

The Entry Level courses are designed to get you into education and enhance your confidence. These courses allow you to build skills by helping you to increase your knowledge and the Entry Level is a great foundation to help build your career. The courses are available to anyone interested in gaining entry level qualifications and knowledge, there are no formal entry requirements for these courses.

Entry Level study may include the following:

Level 1

Level 1 courses are great for individuals who are wanting to embark on a specific career path. These courses allow you to build on skills within your chosen subject and are perfect for those who are looking for an introduction into general work. Level 1 courses are an excellent steppingstone for those planning to progress onto further studies within a certain field.

Level 1 study may include the following:

Level 2

Level 2 courses are at an intermediate level and give you a good understanding of a specific subject area, such as Childcare, Engineering or Business. Level 2 courses allow you to build an understanding of your chosen subject, so that you can gain the qualifications and knowledge to either enter the world of work or progress on to further studies within your chosen career field. If you do decide to enter a career path with the Level 2 qualification you have gained, then there are a good range of job roles you could apply for.

Level 3

Level 3 qualifications are great for those individuals who are focussed on progressing to a higher education university level course. If you have decided that you wish to do a higher level of study, then a level 3 qualification is very important for your career path. Level 3 education and qualifications enable you to gain an in-depth level of study within your chosen subject area. Studying at this level prepares you with the skills, knowledge and experience you will require to enter a higher level of study. Level 3 qualifications also enable you to enter employment with a solid foundation and understanding of what is required within your chosen career arena.

University Levels 4-7

Derby College university level courses are run in collaboration with partner universities. This level of study is excellent for those wanting to enter or progress to working in a technical and professional field. This level of study is also perfect for those individuals who are managing and developing others. An in depth and robust high-level of knowledge in your chosen filed of study will enable you to use the skills and understanding that you have gained through higher education – to carry out your job role effectively and efficiently. This level of study will allow you to become an experienced knowledge-based professional, whether it be working within a team or leading a team.
