Extending KS4 Options for Schools
Derby College has worked successfully with secondary and SEND schools across the city and county for over 15 years. We work collaboratively with schools to deliver a range of vocational qualifications for year 10 and 11 students.
The pre-16 listings below show the opportunities available. Select an individual course to find out more information, including course content and whether they appear on the DfE Performance Tables.
We also offer a bespoke Inclusion Curriculum for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and a Lexis programme for students where English is not their first language. Please get in touch to find out more about these programmes.
Students will usually attend college one day a week for their vocational subject, either for half a day (3 hours) or a full day (5 hours) depending on the total qualification time and type of qualification.
Please note, course delivery is subject to satisfactory student numbers.
Why should schools invest in the 14-16 provision?
Young people may need an alternative environment to learn in for a variety of reasons. For some students, vocational courses are particularly relevant and offer the perfect introduction to their potential career path and the chance to develop sought after workplace skills.
As an experienced FE provider with over twenty-five vocational subject areas we are well-placed to help you address the needs of your students (Benchmark 3).
To find out more
The 14-16 team are available to attend Year 9 options evenings, where suitable. Essential transition support is also available and schools can book visits to the relevant sites and attend our yearly taster sessions before joining us each September.
