Who is this course for?
The next step in your AAT journey at Derby College Group begins here – and this course is the perfect starting point if you want to carry out basic finance and administrative duties using accounting software packages.
It leads to a basic entry-level qualification (most students will start at Foundation level). You will have the chance to learn accounting software as a short course or as part of a series of courses with the Access Award in Bookkeeping, the Foundation Award in Accounting Software and the Foundation Certificate in Bookeeping. These courses can be studied back-to-back over a year or alternatively you can take individual courses based on what you want.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, though an Entry 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Maths would be an advantage.
What will you learn?
The Access Award introduces the main features of accounting software, along with the benefits and risks of its use.
Learning objectives are:
- Understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software
- Set up accounts
- Record bank and cash transactions
- Produce reports using accounting software

What will you need to bring with you?
As part of your AAT course, you will need to purchase resource/text books to aid your revision. There may also be the additional cost of registration/subscription fees and exams (which can be discussed at interview).
AEB Funded: please discuss at enrolment
Level 1
AAT Fees = £40
Books = £20 (approx)
Assessments = £70 per assessment
AAT fee and cost for first exams is included.

Students will complete computer-based assessments.

AAT qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare students for the world of work and specifically for accountancy and finance roles.
