Apprenticeship – Hospitality Supervisor – Level 3
Hospitality supervisors work across a wide variety of businesses including bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. They provide vital support to management teams and are capable of independently supervising hospitality services and running shifts.

Who is this course for?
Hospitality supervisors work across a wide variety of businesses including bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. They provide vital support to management teams and are capable of independently supervising hospitality services and running shifts.
They typically work under pressure delivering fantastic customer service. Motivating a team is essential to their role. The majority of supervisors’ skills and knowledge are the same but supervisors may specialise in specific functions or work across a variety of functions which reflect the multi-functional nature of the industry.
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements are to be decided by the employer at the start of the apprenticeship but it is expected that the individual will have worked operationally in the industry before embarking on this apprenticeship standard.

You need to demonstrate knowledge and skills in four main areas:
- Business
- People
- Customers
- Leadership
Hospitality Supervisors then select one of the following options as their specialist function:
- Food and Beverage Supervisor
- Bar Supervisor
- Housekeeping Supervisor
- Concierge Supervisor
- Front Office Supervisor
- Events Supervisor
- Hospitality Outlet Supervisor
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered in the workplace and on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
Your employer will need to provide you with any Personal Protective Equipment required legally and to help you to undertake your role safely.
How will you be assessed?
You will be supported and assessed to prepare for an end point assessment at the end of your course. This will consist of the following:
- 120-minute on demand test
- Four-hour practical observation
- Business Project with 30-minute formal presentation
Followed by:
- 90-minute professional discussion
The first three activities can be completed in any order.
All assessment activities must be completed within two months.

What qualification will my apprentice gain?
On completion, your apprentice will have gained the Advanced Apprenticeship Hospitality Supervisor.
What will the assessment look like?
Your apprentice will be supported and assessed to prepare them for an end point assessment at the end of their course. This will consist of the following:
- 120-minute on demand test

- Business Project with 30-minute formal presentation
Followed by:
- 90-minute professional discussion

Will my apprentice need to come into college?
Your apprentice will be supported and assessed in the workplace. The end point assessment will take place locally or within the College.
Is there any specialist equipment required?
You will need to provide your apprentice with any PPE required legally and to help them to undertake their role safely.
What progression can my apprentice expect after completion of their apprenticeship?
Further Study
On completion of this apprenticeship, your apprentice could move on to a higher-level apprenticeship within hospitality.
