Course Information for Students

The course is a practical based program, with an element of theory work, covering all aspects of essential building site operations. Due to the nature of this industry, most of the practical work is delivered outside, regardless of the weather conditions. In addition, there is the chance of gaining some real on-site work experience with one of our academy employers.

Minimum of a Grade 3 in English and maths and able to achieve Entry level 3 on the BKSB screening assessment, conducted by the college during an interview session.

This course consists of both practical and theory training, covering the Groundwork operations of a construction site. This will include work in relation to: Foundations, Drainage, Roadworks, Brickwork and many other aspects of this construction trade.

You will learn onsite.

A full set of PPE is required consisting of boots and a Hi vis jacket.

Assessment are conducted by a range of multi choice, paper-based questions. In addition, there are 2 online exams and a work book of practical assessments to complete. All assessments are graded from Pass, Merit and Distinction. Tutorial support is available throughout.

Progression onto an Apprenticeship or further study in a Brickwork discipline.
