Course Information for Students

This course is for individuals who would like to learn about basic canine first aid and the steps to take in a first aid emergency.

Our Canine First Aid course is a great way to understand some of the basic measures that can be put into action. On completion of the course, you will be issued with a College certificate.

You should have a genuine interest in dogs and should be keen to establish an understanding of canine first aid.

The course will cover:

  • Correct use and application of equipment
  • Normal and abnormal signs of health in dogs
  • First aid – what it is and what is involved, including scene assessment and barrier use
  • Normal values of temperature, pulse and respiration, theory and practical
  • Restraint methods
  • First aid situations
  • Bandaging: theory and practical
  • CPR theory and practical

This course will be delivered on-site.

You will be required to supply your own:

  • Sensible closed-toe flat footwear
  • Sensible clothing
  • Writing materials
  • Refreshments

Assessment is by observation of your practical performance throughout the day.
