Who is this course for?
This NVQ is for people currently employed in the construction industry. You will be expected to demonstrate competence in both the workplace and College, developing practical skills and job knowledge.
To support your main programme of study, future progression and life skills, you will also develop your skills in maths and English.
Entry Requirements
You need GCSEs at grade C and above, but previous experience in the industry will be considered.
What will you learn?
- Understand and carry out safe working practices in building services engineering
- Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation and maintenance
- Understand and apply domestic above-ground drainage system installation and maintenance techniques
- Install and maintain domestic heating systems
- Maths and English
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
You should provide Personal Protective Equipment.
If you are over 19 years of age, employer contributions will be required. You may be entitled to financial support, depending on your circumstances.
How will you be assessed?
- A GOLA online knowledge assessment and externally set assignment
- A portfolio of evidence and assessment in the workplace
- Maths and English will be assessed through a controlled assessment or final exam.
Where next?
You can progress to the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating, specialising in options such as gas, oil, solid fuel or environmental technologies.
