Course Information for Students
Who is this course for?
This programme of study develops your knowledge of the quality assurance of assessment (IQA) process, supporting you to take your next step in a career in the assessment of others, ensuring standards are maintained to a high level and students’ needs are met. You will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your understanding of what quality assessment looks like whilst achieving a recognised professional qualification.
The course will be delivered through 1-1 tutorials on a flexible basis to suit your needs. Your assessor will visit you in the workplace every three to four weeks and provide advice, guidance and support to enable you to succeed in your professional formulation and achieve your qualification.
Entry Requirements
To be able to achieve on this course you will need to already possess a relevant assessor qualification and up-to-date experience in your chosen field. In addition you should:
- Be currently completing IQA for any course that has assessment
- Be in a position to follow your organisation’s policies and procedures
- Have access to a qualified internal verifier to help support you, if required
What will you learn?
The learning programme develops your knowledge and theory of Internal Quality Assurance. During the course you will work towards achieving Unit 1:
Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (Theory)
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
There is no specialist equipment required but you would be expected to provide your own stationery, whilst having access to an internet-enabled device to complete tasks and upload evidence.
How will you be assessed?
You will collate evidence of professional practice and organise a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competency and a consistently high level of good practice in the theory of internal verification.
Where next?
You will implement what you have learned in the workplace and improve the practice of others, having enhanced your communication and collaboration skills.
You can develop your understanding to enable effective support with the new Apprenticeship Professional Standards and End-Point Assessment, having the ability to develop assessment within any future work environment suited to your specialism.
You will have the ability to be reflective in your approach to what works and select appropriate sampling methodology to apply in dynamic or diverse workplace environments as required.
You could also progress to the following qualifications:
- A Level 3 Award or Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, if your role involves delivery alongside assessing and verifying: the beginning of a learning journey in teacher training
- Completing a coaching course, to further enhance your skills in the development of others
- An advanced programme of study such as an Advanced or Higher Apprenticeship – Assessor-Coach (Level 4)
