Introduction to Building Services Level 1 ( Electrcial and Plumbing)
This is a Level 1 course designed to support learners into the Building Services industry. The course will cover practical and theory elements. Theory will include plumbing and electrical principles and basic systems in dwellings. The practical will introduce students to basic hand skills, jointing and installation methods for cable and pipework.

Who is this course for?
This is a Level 1 course designed to support learners into the Building Services industry.
The course will cover practical and theory elements. Theory will include plumbing and electrical principles and basic systems in dwellings. The practical will introduce students to basic hand skills, jointing and installation methods for cable and pipework.
Entry Requirements
Students must also pass a formal interview and entry assessment test.
You need GCSE grades of 3 in Maths or English, with a minimum grade of 2 in the other Maths or English subject. You also need to complete an entry assessment and formal interview. You must be signed up for GSCEs, not Functional Skills.
What will you learn?
The course will cover basic jointing of copper, steel and plastic pipework. Electricals will cover wiring basic circuits and fabricating some trunking systems. Students will develop differing methods of jointing electrical and pipework systems. Skills will also be taught around general hand tools and measurements in industry.
Theory will support the further development of maths and English skills. Some basic system design will be undertaken in electrical and plumbing systems. Maths and English will also be taught separately to increase students’ grades in these areas.
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
Students will be required to purchase three polo shirts, a pair of boots, and trouser overalls. They are also advised to purchase a course book for revision.
They should also have stationery as required in all lessons.
How will you be assessed?
Assessment will be via paper-based assessment, with either short answer or multiple choice questions. Students will be assessed on practical elements via a workbook featuring the criteria for passing the course.
