Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements. However, you will be required to complete a brief assessment to ensure that the course is suitable for you.
What will you learn?
Gaining this qualification will enable you to improve your competency in:
The basics – security and safety: passwords, viruses, storage and file management
The Internet and email – searching, sending and receiving emails, contacts lists, and organising your inbox
Word processing – entering, editing and formatting text and documents, inserting tables and graphics
Spreadsheets – entering, editing, sorting and filtering data, formatting and formulas
Charts and graphs – producing different types of charts and graphs: bar, column, line and pie charts
Presentations – understanding, making and editing presentations
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
It would be advantageous to have your own electronic device for word processing e.g. a laptop or a PC and access to the Internet so that you can continue to develop your skills at home, but this is not essential.
How will you be assessed?
You will be assessed continually through the development of an individual learning plan.
You will build a portfolio of evidence for each topic, showcasing your skills, and present the evidence in a portfolio which is assessed by your tutor and externally by the exam board.
There is no formal end exam as the assessment is based on the completion of an evidence-based portfolio.
Where next?
What you do next is up to you:
- Use the skills you learn in work, study or everyday life
- Use those skills to help you succeed in any future course of study that you may be considering
