Who is this course for?
This programme of study develops your knowledge and skills in quality assurance of assessment (IQA), ensuring standards are maintained to a high level and students’ needs are met. You will have the opportunity to develop and improve your practice and achieve a recognised professional qualification.
The course will be delivered through 1-1 tutorials on a flexible basis to suit your needs. Your assessor will visit you in the workplace every three to four weeks and provide advice, guidance and support to enable you to achieve this qualification.

Entry Requirements
- A relevant Assessor qualification
- A qualification at an appropriate level and relevant up-to-date experience in your vocational/subject-specialism
- Be in a position to follow your organisation’s policies and procedures
- Access to at least two assessors who are assessing work-based students
- Access to a qualified internal verifier to help support you in the internal verification process
What will you learn?
The learning programme develops your knowledge, skills and professional behaviours holistically. During the course you will work towards achieving two units:
- Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment (Theory)
- Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment (Practical)
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
No specialist equipment is required.
How will you be assessed?
You will build a portfolio of evidence to prove competency and good practice in internal verification. This is usually completed through e-portfolio (Onefile).
Where next?
You will implement what you have learned in the workplace and improve practices. You can develop your skills to enable effective sampling with the new Apprenticeship Standards and End-point Assessment, supporting assessors with development and assessment within any work environment. You will have the ability to reflect on and select appropriate sampling methodology to apply in dynamic or diverse workplace environments.
You can also progress to the following qualifications:
- A Level 3 Award or Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, if your role involves delivery alongside assessing and verifying
- A teaching qualification
- A coaching course
- An Advanced Apprenticeship – Assessor-Coach (Level 4)
