This Level 2 qualification is ideal for anyone who is looking to work with children aged between birth and five years.

Who is this course for?
This Level 2 qualification is ideal for anyone who is looking to work with children aged between birth and five years. It will give you knowledge and skills in working with children up to seven years of age.
Alongside your Early Years practitioner qualification, you will study Employment Rights and Responsibilities and will complete Level 1 Maths, IT and English – and prepare to sit Level 2 – unless you already have grade 4-9 at GCSE.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will use an e-portfolio system and keep a reflection diary.
Entry Requirements
You must be over 16 and have a good standard of English .You should have secured an apprenticeship with an employer. The College can give you support in finding an employer or you could look on the apprenticeship vacancies website.

The only costs involve attending College on a Tuesday if applicable.

You will be allocated an assessor who will support you throughout the apprenticeship. Assessment is in the form of:

- products of work
- professional discussions

Apprenticeship summary
The programme lasts for around 18 months, depending on the apprentice’s age and experience. It entails one day a week at College – a Tuesday. There is a visit from the assessor at least once a month.

Are they any entry requirements for my apprentice?
Your apprentice should be aged 16+, should have an understanding of the job role and should be keen to pursue a career in the Early Years sector.

Assessment will be planned between yourself, the apprentice and an assessor who will support them throughout the programme. It will take the form of:

Will my apprentice need to come into college?
Your apprentice will attend College on Tuesdays for the Early Years element of their programme. They may also have to attend for Functional Skills training, depending on whether they are exempt.
Is there any specialist equipment required?
No – but they will need a laptop.
What progression can my apprentice expect after completion of their apprenticeship?
They can progress to Level 3 qualifications.
