Course Information for Students

This two-day course aims to prepare participants for the NPTC Certificate of Competence in Telescopic Forklift (RTF) Handling. The course also includes assessment to be arranged on a separate day.

The minimum age for a candidate taking this course is 16 years. You should preferably have knowledge of agricultural machinery.

The course will cover:

  • The relevant legal requirements
  • How to avoid the potential dangers of lift truck operations
  • Essential maintenance
  • Changing attachments
  • Handling bulk loads
  • Handling palletised loads
  • Manoeuvring in confined space
  • Working on rough terrain

This course will be delivered on on-site.

You will be required to supply your own:

  • Steel toe-capped boots/wellingtons
  • Boiler suit
  • Writing materials
  • Lunch (there will be facilities on site if you wish to purchase your lunch here)

There is a practical assessment, lasting approximately two hours, which is taken on a separate day from the training. Tests are organised by NPTC.
