Who is this course for?
On successful completion of this course, you will be able to prepare and use an ATV safely.
Entry Requirements
The minimum age for candidates taking this course is 16 years.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
What will you learn?
The course will cover:
- Comply with legal requirements, with an emphasis on safe practice
- Identify the risks associated with using an ATV
- Understand the main causes of accidents
- Identify the controls and components
- Understand the function of all instruments
- Carry out daily and appropriate pre-start checks
- Identify and report any faults
- Operate an ATV safely on a variety of slopes and terrain
- Identify loading/towing capacities
- Drive with loads and trailed equipment
- Load and secure for transport on the road (if appropriate)
- Understand legal and practical requirements for travelling on the public road
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will be required to supply your own:
- Overalls or tight fitting work clothes with no dangling drawstrings
- Steel toe-capped boots or wellingtons
- Writing materials
- Lunch/refreshments
How will you be assessed?
There is a formal NPTC assessment, which is taken on a separate day. Tests are organised by NPTC and can be taken at the College or on your own site.
