Students studying Sociology at A-level will gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. In addition to developing critical thinking skills and addressing contemporary issues, students will be encouraged to embrace diverse thinking and to reflect on social issues throughout their studies.

Who is this course for?
A-level Sociology provides students with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the world. They are encouraged to reflect on social issues and their own experiences to encompass diverse thinking. Students will acquire critical and analytical skills and will address contemporary issues throughout their studies.
Entry Requirements
You will need at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language at grade 5 and Maths at grade 4.
A GCSE in Sociology is not a pre-requisite. However, if you have studied it, a grade 5 is required.
A recent school report will be required which demonstrates a committed attitude to learning.
It is assumed that students enrol on a two-year A-level programme of study consisting of three or more subjects. However, students will be expected to demonstrate a committed attitude to learning and make positive progress in their first year of study.

This course will be delivered on-site at the Joseph Wright Centre.

Where next?
Sociology is accepted for admission to a wide range of university degree courses in the social sciences. It is also accepted for training courses in health and social care, personnel management, leisure and tourism, the police, legal professions and similar career areas.
