Pre course guidance appointments can be arranged to help you assess what study options would most suit your career plans.
We host online career chats and webinars throughout the year.
Check out Career Coach. Career Coach is designed to help you find a good career by providing the most current local data on wages, employment, job postings, and associated education and training.
For all current students
The Careers team offers support to ALL students who are studying with the Derby College Group.
We help to clarify your options and progression pathways. Such as Apprenticeships, Employment, Self-employment and business start up, Further Education, Higher Education (University), Gap years.
The team is here for all students, from those who are looking to start their careers or take career development opportunities to those wanting to change career direction.
As a student at Derby College you have the opportunity to receive the following: –
- ACCESS to impartial advice and information about all career, course and progression options available to you
- SUPPORT and guidance to help you make choices and complete a career plan for the future, at the appropriate time
- HELP to decide what to do when you leave your course, including information about further learning, training or employment
- A PLANNED PROGRAMME of careers education helping you to develop skills and knowledge to enable you to make choices and the transition into work or learning
- ACCESS to a range of online (and paper based) resources to help you to plan your next step, including labour market information, higher education providers and career planning tools
- REGULAR personal support and information on how well you are progressing through your individual learning plan.
You will also have the opportunity to: –
- EXPLORE the world of work via access to a range of opportunity providers including – employers, voluntary organisations and higher education.
- ATTEND events giving information on future learning opportunities within further and higher education
- BE involved in making decisions about things that affect your learning
Delivering Excellence
The Derby College Group is committed to actively maintaining a Quality in Careers Standard Award as recommended in statutory guidance for impartial Careers Guidance. Consequently Career Mark Gold Award was achieved for the fourth consecutive time in June 2018. Career Mark is one of the 12 national awards recognised as a Quality in Careers Standard. In addition The Careers Programme at Derby College adheres to the Matrix National Quality Standards for Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG).
