BTEC Level 3 Extended diploma helps Kyle is prepared for business degree
Derby College business student Kyle Traynor has conditional offers from four universities to study for a degree in business management and finance.
And the 18-year-old from Heanor, is confident he’ll be well prepared for to take up a university place this September, thanks to his BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in Business
Kyle, who would most like to work in finance – possibly as a financial adviser or company finance director – is finding every element of his course to be interesting and of value.
He said: “I highly recommend my level 3 course. It covers so much including finance, tax, human resources and the English legal system in relation to consumer protection and workplace rights.
I also enjoyed doing the unit on the principles of management and leadership theory which looks at what makes a good manager.
The personal finance unit was good too as it looks at what I’d need to study to become a financial adviser. It covers ISAs and other savings plans, budgeting, cost cutting and financial planning.”
Kyle, who took his exams in January, is now concentrating on finishing his assignments.
He added: “Derby College suits me. It’s near, The Roundhouse has everything I need and our lecturers are good. We’re having to learn remotely because of lockdown but we’ve had support from staff.
I’ve had distinctions in some units, including my first unit this year, which was market research. Knowing this course is leading to the degree I want to study at university is helping me to stay motivated.”
Kyle is unsure yet where he will study for his business degree but Sheffield Hallam University is his first choice.
